Ar 15 muzzle brake flash suppressor11/21/2023 ![]() 300 Blackout.ĪR-15 muzzle devices typically use standard 1/2-28 threads, but that varies based on caliber. However, just like there are AR-15s in different calibers, there are also muzzle brakes for different calibers, such as. Muzzle brakes with flash hiding capabilities are less common, but still relatively easy to find.īecause they’re a barrel attachment, muzzle brakes need to be the right caliber. They have no effect on recoil or muzzle movement on their own, but they do reduce muzzle flash and noise. In fact, it’s not uncommon to hear “compensator” and “muzzle brake” used more or less interchangeably these days.Ī flash hider, or flash suppressor, is a muzzle device that handles the other side of the muzzle blast: muzzle flash. That’s why muzzle brakes are generally thought to mitigate both flip and recoil. However, many muzzle devices are actually hybrids of the different types of muzzle devices, and muzzle brake and compensator hybrids are particularly common. Now technically a muzzle brake doesn’t actually do much about muzzle flip and primarily fights recoil. A compensator is quite similar but has holes in the top to vent gases to prevent muzzle flip while doing little to nothing about recoil. That means that the rifle moves less after each shot, which allows for faster and more accurate follow up shots.Ī muzzle brake is not the same as other muzzle devices like compensators and flash hiders. Lantac Dragon Muzzle Brake (Best High End)Īs we’ve already stated, a muzzle brake reduces felt recoil and muzzle jump.Strike Industries JCOMP Gen2 AR-15 Compensator (Best Budget).Precision Armament M4-72 Severe-Duty Compensator (Our Top Pick). What Do You Look For In The Best AR-15 Muzzle Brakes?.It really is the perfect balance all the best general purpose muzzle device. The cost is a bit steep and it is fairly heavy for a muzzle device (IMO), however, I have not used a better performing muzzle brake with all things considered (Flash suppression, Low concussion, recoil reduction). Standing right next to it, you feel some blast, but because the gas is dissipated almost 360 degrees around the muzzle brake, once you are a couple feet away from it, it really isnt that noticeable. Flash signature is low, similar to what you get from an A2. Just got the EFAB muzzle brake for my 16inch 5.56 and it is amazing. The EFAB is also effective but without the blast! We posted a video here Had a hypertap first and it was extremely effective but lots of blast to my face. The EFAB is ideal for my Tavor bullpup rifle (5.56). Never thought a $200 muzzle device could be something I rant and rave over but this thing is absolutely top-tier. The porting is also super clean and well done. Bought their Accu Washers like they said and it was worth it. I did my research before hand, paid a good gunsmith who did it right and timed it perfectly. “It shoots like a C02 air gun” was said by multiple people running 62gr M855ĭefinitely worth it if you’re using a 14.5” barrel. Had it pinned and welded onto my 14.5” DDM4V5s and it’s sitting pretty at 16.1”ġ,000rnds in and my friends are blown away by the overall reduction in recoil compared to the A2 Birdcage I was running. Posted by Maxwell Bradford on 24th Nov 2020įlash is extremely minimal. Occasionally catch a whiff of gas when firing but not much. Reduction of shooter blast, recoil, & muzzle rise was very (very) good! Flash suppression is as good as A2 in cloudy overcast daylight. Works very well compared to the original A2. There are probably better device options for a specific desired function (flash suppression only, concussion only, compensation only), but I don't think you'll find anything better at doing all 3 very well. Bottom line, am buying a second one for my other rifle. It is louder than just a flash hider, but no concussion. 308/5.56 both kill the flash n reduce recoil. You can't find a better hybrid device period, the machining and promised performance of these check all the boxes. My AFAB is on a 18" build and works great as well, but these EFAB's work better for shorter builds. Brakes well, acts as a comp, and provides almost zero flash. The EFAB works amazing on my shorter 10.5" and 14.5" barrels.
