Equinox sports club los angeles11/21/2023 ![]() The gym contract is extremely restrictive. Equinox stopped paying their outside vendor at the beginning of COVID and have made no effort to replace that service or find an alternative for gym goers. However, there is a very large, completely desolate, kitchen space in the entryway of the gym. There are no food or beverage options in the gym. Other (significantly cheaper) gyms in the West LA area offer parking reimbursement. Every time you drive to the gym, you will need to pay for street parking ($/hour up to 2 hours) or valet ($3 flat up to 3 hours). The programming is especially limited for HIIT and weight training focused classes. With the emphasis on the new Equinox+ platform, focus on programming, and the restrictions involved in booking classes, the product needs to be better. As an example, during one class I attended, the instructor showed up late, recognized me from a previous session, and asked me to setup the equipment on their behalf, while facilitating the warmup for other class members. In my experience, the classes themselves are disorganized and non-motivating. Limited classes that often occur during the middle of the work day. The basketball court is consistently occupied by pickup games that cover the entire gym no room for shoot around, if you want to play it will take a couple games. You will have to adjust your workout in order to leave within 1.5 hours. Expect to wait at every machine/bench/rack in the weight room. Because of this, many of the other amenities that are sold to new joiners are almost unusable. As COVID restrictions have started to lift in the region, the after work crowds have grown substantially. Overall, I'd say there are more pros than cons, but for $300 a month, I don't think it's worth it.Īs one of the most expensive gym options, this location and Equinox more broadly leave much to be desired The gym is also massive which spreads people out so you're not on top of one another. ![]() They just added two cold plunges upstairs on the patio by the pool. There's a lot of available classes throughout the day that you can join. If you go during the morning, or during the day, there's a more respectful crowd and the basketball courts are more open with people just shooting around. With all that said, there are some good benefits. There's some street parking that doesn't require a meter but those get taken quickly and is limited. Parking is also very limited, on top of $300 a month, you need to pay $2-3 to park in their garage, or find a meter spot on the side streets. The food bar in the lobby has been closed since covid had has no path or direction to be opened up soon. Lately, lots of machines are broken including a majority of the stair masters and the sauna. If you want a basic pick up game to have fun or get a good cardio work out, this isn't the place to play. ![]() Lot's of guys who think they are in the NBA with big egos. The basketball courts are often taken and hard to get on during the afternoons and weekends. Like most gyms, from 4-7pm during the week it gets crazy packed. Members should have more respect to clean up after themselves, lots of them seem entitled. Lot's of members are disrespectful toward the club and leave towels, work out accessories, and bottles everywhere, and the club is too large to have the cleaning crew keep up at all hours of the day. Joined this gym around a year ago hoping to find a cleaner & less crowded gym due to the insane crowds and dirtiness at local gyms such as LA Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness.įor $300+ a month, I don't think the value is there to justify the price.
